Odd Blocks from Becca's Crazy Projects

Sometimes I make blocks just to try them out. Sometimes I don't have enough of these to make anything. Those odd blocks desire to become a quilt. Here we have a couple of those quilts, or at least the beginnings. The top one uses 6" squares. I had some fun blocks to pair up with those big pinwheels.
These pinwheels are really big. Each of those pinwheel blocks measures 16". I had to get creative with the layout to make it look way more complicated than it is. I will add some borders and they will be ready for ...

shining blue quilt from Charm About You

This quilt was made last summer and gifted to a wonderful educator who retired from my kids school. I used some fabulous new products in the making of this quilt, which helped me make perfect blocks and perfect points with pins! I don't know why I didn't blog about it at the time but here we are, months later and it seemed a shame to have documented the making of the quilt and not share.
I sneakily got the girls to find out her favourite colour... blue! I went through my stash and picked out loads of blue ...

let the festivities commence . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

It's BIRTHDAY weekend!!  Hip, hip!!  The fun started Thursday evening when I pulled up and there were two beautiful planters of my favorite fall flowers . . .
MUMS!  Aren't they pretty?  Todd knows me so well!

Friday we hit the lake around 11:30.  Even the fish must have known it was my birthday weekend! I actually pulled out my pole (Todd was catching them hand over fist, so to speak) and I did well.
I caught about eight (to Todd's twenty, but who's counting?).  Mine were GOOD sized!
The heron even squawked out a birthday greeting.  ;)

spring steps from Charm About You

I do love surprises... and happy mail... and quilt making (especially for a good cause)!

For this months Aurifil Artisan challenge we were sent five fat quarters of Kaffe Fassett fabric to use in a project.

I knew I was going to make a quilt. I don't use red prints very often and spent a while auditioning fabrics to go with the bundle. Initially I pulled pinks and oranges, other warm tones because that's my vibe. It all looked too samey though and the Kaffe prints didn't stand out enough. So then I pulled a whole rainbow ...

geesey geesey >> from Charm About You

This Autumn I had the pleasure of joining Rachel of Stitched in Color for the Geesey Geesey Sew-Along. Her Geesey Quilt pattern is a brilliant exploration of colour and I spent quite a while debating what sort of look to create and what fabrics to use. Over time I have been collecting black and white prints and ultimately thought it would be an interesting choice for the pattern.

Thinking about what to pair it with, my inner 80's child was screaming PASTELS! Thankfully I had quite a few of those too. My first inclination was to use the pastel ...

This post is not a pattern for a full quilt, so there will not be fabric requirements. But the great thing about the Economy Block is that it fun, easy and a great way to use up your scraps and stash. Let’s get started!

◌ Washi Double Dresden Wreath ◌ from Charm About You

green and white dresden plate christmas fabric wreath by Charm About You

It feels wonderful to have a new version of the Double Dresden Wreath, made using the free tutorial I created a couple of years ago. The original was demonstrated on Sewing Quarter, the samples that hung in the studio stayed there, and I am so happy to now have one for our house. I made this wreath for my December project as an Aurifil Artisan, our challenge was to create a holiday themed project. Perfect for brightening any door or bare looking wall space, the wreath pattern is a merry make!

My original plan was slightly different but this was ...

Travel Tray InspirationHave you made a travel tray?  Travel... from Living Water Quilter

Travel Tray Inspiration

Have you made a travel tray?

Travel trays have been on my “To Make” list for a while. So, I thought they would be perfect for the Island Batik Ambassador 3D Challenge.  This the first of two 3D challenge projects.

NOTE: Island Batik provided the fabric and Kraft-tex was provided by CT Publishing.

Island Batik and Kraft-tex Trays

Island Batik and Kraft-tex is a winning combination for a travel tray. Kraft-tex is firm yet flexible. The tray sides remain at an angle even when the tray is unsnapped.

I made two with Kraft-tex  as the base and ...
